Inner Cirlce used to be known as a dating app for the elite and was infamous for their so called (door-bitch)‘ policy. Their aim is to offer a platform where people can find long-term relationships. ‘’Tough’’ men posing without shirts or boasting their manly hobbies are not welcomed on the app. Rather than endlessly swiping, Inner Circle encourages members to really get to know each other by hosting Monthly ‘real life’ events. With an active userbase in 37 cities across 26 countries Inner Circle has successfully established itself in the dating global dating community.

Social distancing and the closing of all public spaces during corona changed the dating scene. Inner Circle’s online app became more relevant than ever, and during the pandemic they rebranded themselves with a new name, logo and slogan: Meet Your Match. This required a lot of creative thinking, so therefore The Translation Collective was the right place for them to contact!
Translating an app
Several small projects culminated in an enormous project to translate the app to German, Spanish, Portuguese, Turkish, French, Italian, Russian and Swedish. Our translators were tasked to work from within the app on their own created accounts. This meant that they had to account for a limited number of characters and HTML tags amongst other challenges. That’s not an easy job to do! Besides translating for the app itself, our translators were also asked to translate several marketing advertisements. The coronavirus unfortunately put the monthly real life meetups on hold, and to compensate Inner Circle decided to publish articles with advice on how to meet people in real life and tips for fun activities to go to on a date.
